is there a letter K in the word ’stupid’? i didn’t think so either until i watched this most tragic event in vowel and consonant picking history from the wheel of fortune. oh my! exclusive nightclub indeed.

yes, just as i was late in bidding farewell to harveyy korman and i am also late in saying goodbye to the incredibly funny george carlin who passed away on june 22nd, 2008. i have yet to hear a comedian who really tells such an eloquent story with such unapologetic, insightful, core truth, and levity as george carlin. what a master he was. and man could he nail politics - wow! jerry seinfeld wrote a great & perfect tribute letter about george carlin just after his death titled Dying Is Hard. Comedy Is Harder. i’m posting 2 of his more masterful and foul-mouthed (meaning NSFW) comedy routines below. one is titled religion is bullshit and the other is on the ‘american dream’. rest in peace george carlin! and thank you!
Religion Is Bullshit
On the ‘American Dream’
it’s friday, and giantmonster would like to ask do you know where your rick astley is?

as if it needs mentioning, the drug methamphetamine is absolutely horrible. to drive that point home further, jezebel is hosting a short clip from the A&E show Intervention of Cristy, the 24 year girl who has been a meth user & addict for 10 years. it is very very sad and disturbing. longer video clips of this episode are available on youtube. if that isn’t enough, there’s an informative page via pbs frontline on how meth destroys the body. this is the worst drug. just awful. seeing what meth use does to people is the best deterrent. please avoid at all costs.
taking the art of dining to new and savory heights comes this clip from a japanese game show with pointers on the proper way to eat marshmellows. can it be done any other way? i don’t think so. side note: with the competing teams in this video wearing red and blue outfits, i can’t help think of US politics and that someday this is how our elections will be decided. awesome! thanks jamie for the clip!
apparently word is getting around that clowns are creepy, and possibly even scary. a university of sheffield england study seen on the bbc news states that the majority of children find clown images too scary and that children find clown faces and imagery frightening and unknowable. yikes! perhaps if england had a decent child clown outlet like we do in the states, the thoughts of clowns wouldn’t be seen as so scary.

very cool time-lapsed video clip of what is called an automatic graffiti robot. the art is created using a spray can attached to cables running on a X / Y axis. the cables control or press the nozzle on the spray can at precise moments. the cable are moved & controlled by a computer program. it reminds me of a giant plotter printer. very cool idea! the clip is from 2006 but i haven’t been able to find any other info on this artist other that the video. anyway, enjoy!
take a look at a really amazing animated short by alan becker via deviantArt titled animator vs. animation. the battle takes place on the flash interface! so so great & clever! thank you alan for the hard work and great animation!
what doth life, you ask? well, sunday night november 4th at midnight on adult swim (and soon after, a bittorrent site near you), it’s highway to heaven meets wondershowzen meets billy jack meets jeff spicoli meets half-life with six-nipple goodness! yes, it’s xavier: renegade angel. the weirdness and humor of xavier renegade angel happens so fast that you’ll wake up ten years from now finally getting phrases and punchlines that were too clever and sophisticated for your limited 2007 brain to comprehend. so stock up on futuristic weirdness while you can! props to the kids at cinematico for all their hard work!
this is pretty damn brilliant. and funny. it’s a simple contest: Who could come up with the shittiest mix-tape mix ever? there were two contestants. each contestant would pick five of worst songs they could find. whoever had the least shitty five song selection would be then be deemed the loser. the loser would then have to walk around the streets of NYC carrying a boombox blasting all 10 of those shitty songs. aziz ansar of azizisbored.com lost that bet. and below is the video. enjoy!
in lieu of any posts for two months, i offer up some talking cats. please enjoy.
a very amazing lecture and demo video from TED talks by software architect blaise aguera y arcas showing the incredible new photo technology called photosynth. from the what is photosynth page on the microsoft live labs website, photosynth “takes a large collection of photos of a place or an object, analyzes them for similarities, and displays them in a reconstructed three-dimensional space.” please watch the video (also on the clip-a-day website) to see what that entails - it’s pretty incredible.

combining over-hyped y2k fears with that classic good time christian feeling of the end of the world equals pure marketing genius!! yes it does. take a bit a doom, a bit of gloom, add lots of saccharin, and blend with the creamy, deeeeep voice of the cyborg announcer chuck ohman, and you’ve got the year 2000 time bomb! please watch and learn, ’cause it’s your last chance … WARNING: the magic vibrational voice of chuck ohman may actually lull you into buying something.

is it me you’re looking for? answer: yes. why wasn’t sculpture class like this when i was in school? to truly understand the magic of the video for Hello by lionel richie, one must become the video for Hello by lionel richie. hence, the hello experiment. the hello experiment seeks to capture the wonder, imagination, and beauty that is lionel richie’s massive jaw lovingly formed in wet brown clay by sightless, open hearted souls. awesome! it’s either a goofy and fun nostalgic paraody or a tragic spell created by demons to open a hell-mouth that will swallow us all. watch and see (note: please download the song Hello at your leisure so you can sculpt your very own lionel richie). thanks cobras!

it’s friday, and my philippine prison is waaay better than your crummy american prison! how so? while your prisoners are busy hiding meth in their orifices, lifting weights, and fighting, my super rad phillipine prisoners from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in cebu, philippines, are busy re-enacting all the dance moves from the michael jackson video ‘Thriller’. yes. really. in unison. all 1,500 of them. complete with a (scary - yikes) tranny stand-in for ola ray. POW!

really liking the video for the song ‘ding’ by the german reggae/dancehall band seeed. it features some really nice stop motion animation. honestly, what is not to like about a red hairy ape in a top hat drinking & dancing at a club?
it’s friday and time more fun with puppets! this time it’s a bit instructional and a bit musical. get the simple how-to on how to make a beat from this funky puppet with an english accent. so clever, you’ll watch it twice. nice.

it’s friday, and are you feeling troubled? down? we hear you! when the staff at giantmonster feels down or has trouble finding direction, we seek comfort in the words and wisdoms of gary busey. yes. nothing can be more calming and affirming than the sage advice dispensed from the star of the awesome made for tv movie quigley. it’s better than aromatherapy, with plenty of boat analogies. the ocean is a spirit … the wind is your spirit … totally.
if you are not interested in shelling out $12 or more for the next bad movie that comes out, then you may want to visit omgfreemovies. it’s exactly what you think - free movies, streaming online. how this is done, i am not sure. it can’t last, that i am sure. but getting to watch the giant turd fantastic four: rise of the silver surfer without paying made the movie a bit more tolerable. do it!
UPDATE:
the omgmovies website is down and/or gone entirely. rest in peace, omg free movies. luckily, there’s the site nosubscriptionrequired that lists free movie sites. thanks robert!

a really funny video by mikey day and andrew friedman titled what am i? what am i? see, it’s tommy’s birthday. and his big wish is that is stuffed dolls come to life so he can have someone to play with. wish granted! not quite a pixar movie. watch for laughs. please be sure to crank up the sounds too so your co-workers can hear all the swearing at the end. there, that’s better.
kind a crazy and funny to watch this clip of original star wars bloopers from star wars, empire, and return of the jedi. what’s that lando? forgot your lines? and did chewbacca’s hair just catch fire? yep. nutty!

truly amazing safari footage titled battle at kruger showing a fight between water buffalo, lions, and yes - crocodiles. good job by the camera man filming the whole scene. the youtube clip is 8 minutes long, but completely worth the wait. via the popular science blog.
wow. hats off to this brave canadian fellow and his very heroic dose of salvia divinorum. i mean that. and good that his friends are looking out for him too. salvia divinorum is a plant and it’s perfectly legal. it grows in parts of mexico. the name salvia divinorum literally translates to “sage of the seers”. it is a plant with a sense of humor and known for it’s shamanistic qualities. salvia divinorum contains a powerful psychoactive called salvinorin A. you can purchase salvia divinorum as an extract where the potency is increased 5X, 10X, 15X, and even 20X. oh boy. be warned though, it’s a rough ride (peep the video). there an informative salvia guide at sagewisdom.org that goes into more detail about the mighty plant. and the youtube clip is a good way to show that salvia is not a party drug. sometimes fun, sometimes not so fun. it’s always an interesting experience, but not a party drug. no. oh no.
i’m a little slow. i gauge this by many factors. one is that i am just now catching on (how did i miss them?) to the comedy stylings of tim and eric via the shrek the third super dumb good funny promos that many a blog covered. thankful & curious, i looked further. to my delight i found tim and eric dot com and have been very happy. tim and eric have got pranks and movies and stuff! just take a look at this clip from their show titled Encounters and another clip titled Horizons Calendar. yay! laughing! thank you tim & eric!
Tim and Eric - Encounters
Tim and Eric - Horizons Calendar

yes, it’s friday, may 25th - and it’s totally star wars day. everywhere. i mean everywhere. star wars, star wars, star wars! to celebrate the star wars-ness, here is a joy: it’s The Two-Hour Star Wars Holiday Special in only Five Minutes! you’re welcome. and what a five minutes. there’s art carney (gotta have art carney - whatever it takes), bea arthur, wookie life day, chewbacca’s disfunctional family, stormtroopers, luke skywalker with waay too much make up, jefferson starship/airplane awfulness, han solo hugging wookies, wookies hugging han solo, bizarre wookie religious ritual, and so much more. all done on a budget of $100! remember though, it’s 5 minutes of your life that you won’t get back. but then there is the largest slave leia photo shoot coming up to rescue you.
it’s friday, and your fat. yes, you are. sorry. it happens. not to worry though! the giantmonster super ultimate fitness crew of personal trainers are here to work you out and get you in shape! start by watching this intense abdominal workout video and you’ll have flat abs in no time. feel the burn!
okay. weirdness. you’ll see, 30 seconds in. laughable, yet still creepy. um, i don’t know what to say. maybe that i’m sorry. really sorry. or how about ‘oh, that poor ottoman!’ but all i have is .. ummmm, whhuuuuuuut?
just for funsies (meaning: showing off) the enlarged creative craniums at cobra creative created these cool motion graphic spots. short & simple and really well done. one is called dig it! and one is called skull. very nice.

this youtube clip is so simple, i wish i had thought of it. and i really wish for the whole song to play. still watchable. the very random addition/buzzkill of sleestaks is kind of nice though. or is it?
a post from politics.tv (and also touched on at alternet and defensenews), documentary film maker robert greenwald testified at a hearing in US Congress on may 10, 2007 about war profiteering. greenwald requested to show a few minutes of one of his films, iraq for sale: the war profiteers, but Republicans blocked his request. here is the 4 minute clip from iraq for sale that Congress didn’t see.
