great time lapse video footage of fog covering san francisco. the video was shot in HD on february 8th, 2008 and filmed from across the bay in sausilito. warning: gratuitous amounts of fog - this could be classified as fog porn. for a bit less fog, hd-sf.com has this really great night-to-day-to-night time lapse footage of san francisco for your viewing pleasure.

i’ve posted all my photos of all the artwork from the great show mescalito currently at white walls gallery. the flickr set is titled [art] mescalito @ white walls. many many thanks to andres of white walls and justin of the shooting gallery for letting me take pics of all the work! some great art to be seen by damon soule, mars-one, and oliver vernon. take a look, and be sure to go by white walls in SF and see the art in person.
great art show coming to white walls gallery in SF this saturday. the show is titled mescalito and it’s featuring the work of three enlightened and powerful artists: mars-one, oliver vernon, and damon soule. giantmonster favorites, all in one show! opening reception october 14th from 7pm - 11pm. show runs through to november 4th. you should go, but only if you want to see beautiful, fanastic, and amazing artwork. here’s a map to the white walls gallery. see you there!
halloween is coming! yay! best time of the year. for your trick and/or treating delights, giantmonster recommends what looks to be another great party put on by opel. yes, it’s the night of the living party taking place on october 28th at mighty in SF. very excited to see on the dj lineup bassnectar, a.k.a. lorin, who was out-of-this-world amazing at burning man this year. yes! seems to be plenty of time to make my half-man/half-ant costume (MANT!) so i’ll see you there!
just realised i’m gonna miss the APE con this weekend - darn it. APE stand for Alternative Press Expo (& the con stands for convention). if your not outside today planting no less than 12 five gallon-size boxwood shrub bushes in your yard, you should check it out. there is always some really great art at APE. great prints and books. plus it’s a chance to meet the artists and creators themselves! i’m pretty sure my friends rhode, jamie, oliver, and derek are going. i may try to get there on sunday. getting there is easy. how to not spend a ton of cash on all the cool art books, zines, & illustrations is the real dilemma.
there’s a great flickr photo set by funkandjazz featuring no less than 1,604 photos on san francisco graffiti. always good to document that stuff ’cause it’s ever-changing. lots of good color and lovely mural and tag pics. thanks funkandjazz! but there’s more! check out some of funkandjazz’s other photo sets, such as east bay graffiti (547 photos), los angeles graffiti ‘05 (49 photos), and graffiti from other places (95 photos). good stuff! get to browsing!
my friend rafael introduced me to the best damn coffee place in SF a few weeks back. it’s more of a coffee stand than a place. regardless, there’s always a line out front. and now probably more so that orange magazine wrote an article on it. blue bottle coffee is pretty damn fantastic. very tasty coffee & espresso drinks. granted, a $3.00 latte should come with a back-rub, serious make-out session, or hand job to condone such a fee (for realsies people - it doesn’t cost that much at all to make a coffee drink, yo). but sans hand jobs & back-rubs, blue bottle’s latte is the best tasting latte i’ve had in a long long time. yes, dare i say it’s better than ritual. both places go for the fancy lil’ foam/espresso arty finish, which i think adds another 25¢ to the drink. check it out when you can.
i missed the shepard fairey art show opening last weekend at the white walls gallery. but luckily the folks from laughing squid managed to snap pics and post them up on their shepard fairey art show flickr set. and doubly lucky is the white walls shepard fairey show image gallery featured on the white walls website - wow!! all lovley stuff. thanks people!
there’s a great lil’ art show at fifty24 in SF featuring the work of chilean artist basco (also known as Vasko). fecal face has some great pics of the opening. last weekend i snapped a load of photos too and posted a basco artwork set on flickr for your eyeballs. enjoy!
