if you like to browse websites with lots of interesting eye candy, then i recommend yanko design. it’s a great design blog that showcases cutting edge design ranging from concepts, products, gadgets, interior spaces, industrial design, branding, tools, toys, everyday items, and more. it’s very advertisement heavy, but still very much worth a visit.
from wpcandy comes a very handy wordpress help sheet and an equally handy yet more advanced wordpress help sheet. they also have a wordpress reference guide for developing your own wordpress blog theme. lots of other goodies on the wpcandy site. thanks wpcandy!
the 2010 winter olympics in vancouver canada will have a rad sasquatch mascot named quatchi. this pleases me. the use of quatchi as a mascot will hopefully send a signal to all sasquatches, yowies, yetis, bigfoots, and skunk-apes to stop leaving giant footprints and just come out of hiding. or it will bring a massive lawsuit filed on behalf of all sasquatches for illegal appropriation of celebrity likeness. awesome mascot design by meomi design. quatchi mascot info via the very funny blogfoot (thanks blogfoot!).

i am very much enjoying the illustrations created by artist christoph niemann. very clean, narrative, playful, and bold. you may recognize some of his work from the new yorker. f you have a moment, please check out his website.

i’ve been really enjoying the art of aaron jasinski. great illustrations, style, scenes, and colors. his website has a great interface too, but you will find his gallery on deviantART easier to peruse. thank you aaron for your work!
posted up on flickr are photos from the 2007 maker faire that took place this weekend. wow - there was soo much to see! i barely scratched the surface of looking at all the cool stuff. luckily, scott beale over at laughing squid took a gigantic amount of photos at the maker faire too (link to laughing squid’s flickr set)! yes, i will definitely go next year and this time participate in the rad-ness!!
there is truth in advertising with a website that says ’stupid name, cool vectors.’ yes. i’m talking about vecteezy - a website of really cool & free vector art & styles. thank you vecteezy!
but wait, there’s also vecteezy’s not too distant cousin, a website named brusheezy. brusheezy features lots of cool (free too!) photoshop brushes. it’s a win win!
just for funsies (meaning: showing off) the enlarged creative craniums at cobra creative created these cool motion graphic spots. short & simple and really well done. one is called dig it! and one is called skull. very nice.

behold a plethora of great graphic design tips! check out the how-to instructions of photoshop methods and step by step tutorials listed on smashing magazine called web 2.0 tutorials round up. styles, effects, logos, badges, banners, patterns, backgrounds, swirly shit - a real nice list. just keep scrolling & you are bound to find something you like and/or want to know how to do. best way to learn is by copying & then improving. this list was inspired by a similar how-to round up over on leonardo’s blog.
here’s a great online tool for choosing colors, selecting a good color palette, and learning about color theory. check out colorjack. design radness! roll over a color swatch to see the associated color pallette. then click on the color swatch to get more detailed information like CMYK, RGB, or HSV values, html color numbers, and other great tools. thank you colorjack!
it’s friday & maybe you’ve got some time to kill at work. or maybe you don’t, but would rather do something creative and explorative. look no further than the genius interactive worlds over at vectorpark. sooo good and lovely. there’s park, levers, and thomas to play around in (i’m still working on park). enjoy!
peep the great illustrators and illustration at illustration mundo. i also like their random array of 100 things. for all you talented illustratin’ and drawin’ types, you can register for free on their site and show your art off, let them know when your site is updated, & stuff. very cool! (ps - ‘mundo’ means ‘world’ in spanish, yo.)
i am really liking the illustrations and art of marcos chin. very stylish. very feeling. very alive. the site is in frames, but the artwork more than makes up for it. you may have seen one or two of his ads for lavalife. his personal work is great too! for more images and info, check out the great interview with marcos chin on ventilate.
my friend brian just tipped me off to this lovely lil’ site: artdorks dot com. great layout and some even greater content too. please check it out.

need a cool place to crash? try Hotel Fox in Copenhagen, Denmark. in a promotional effort for a new car design, Volkswagon has taken over the Parks Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. Volkswagon then brings in 21 designers, visionaries, artists, and illustrators and gives them free reign to create/paint/style a room (sometimes several rooms). coolness abound!
