don knotts actor and all around funny character don knotts, a.k.a. barney fife, a.k.a. the incredible mr. limpett, a.k.a. the apple dumpling gang, a.k.a. landlord and fashion maven ralph furley, died today at the age of 81. thank you for the laughs, mr. knotts!
