man, it’s friday. time to get clean! always good to head into the weekend with nice clean hands. nothing says ‘clean’ like the cold steely gaze of david hasselhoff. or does it? lather up! soo … dirty … can’t … stop … scrubbing … (thanks brit for the pic)
in mexico, missouri, a new biodiesel plant is scheduled to open in november of 2006. the $27 million plant, will turn soybeans into diesel fuel and add 30 million gallons of biodiesel to the 25 million gallons currently produced in missouri. that will make it the largest biodiesel plant in the world. currently the state of iowa has the largest biodiesel plant, with production at 37.5 million gallons per year. of course, if you have a diesel and some time, you can always make your own biodiesel. or just use vegetable oil.
Q: how do you spell ‘fall guy’? A: l i b b y
i don’t know about you, but it seems there should be a few more indictments than just one.
yet more star wars related halloween stuff. starwars.com has some very nice & easy halloween masks you can download & print for trick or treat fun. PDF format. cut out the eyes, put on yer face - boom! finished. the illustrations are really well done. and credit is given to the artists who drew the masks too. yoda, chewie, & darth to name a few are all up there. but look - there’s no jar-jar! george is learning! special times.
man, i feel lazy. especially when i see rad projects like this going on for halloween. check out this flickr photoset of an AT-AT Costume for Halloween 2005. holy yikes! that’s awesome. he even added a lil’ luke skywalker dangling from the underside!!!! yes!!! awesome!!! uncomfortable - yes. not much ability to dance - yes. but again, awesome. more pics of the at-at in action can be seen here.
lots of circus going on here. a lot! i can’t say enough about CircusMuseum.nl. wow. great site & fantastic archive of circus posters. soo much in there to see. lovely artwork and illustrations from around the world. acrobats, freaks, clowns, magicians, & all things circus. a really well built site too. great archive.
so if that still isn’t enough circus for you, then here’s a lovely photoset from flickr on 19th Century Circus Posters. lovely lovely illustrations in this set too. go ahead, give it a lookie.
here’s a really smart opinion piece in the LA times on why all drugs should be legalized. it’s written by the former police chief of the Seattle Police Department & a cop for 34 years, Norm Stamper. Stamper is the author of “Breaking Rank: A Top Cop’s Expose of the Dark Side of American Policing” (Nation Books, 2005). give it a read if you’ve got time.
these are the people in my neighborhood - all republicans trying to take over california! or is it ‘khelly-fohr-neeya’? didn’t you know about arnold’s promise to deliver california to the republicans? it’s called proposition 77. where instead of a voter determined process, appointed judges - not elected officials - would draw the voting district lines in the state. reminds me of a similar story from texas in 2003. that’s a no vote, by the way. so now watch this nicely done flash parody of arnold schwarzenegger’s neighborhood and see all his fwendz!!!
my friend brian just tipped me off to this lovely lil’ site: artdorks dot com. great layout and some even greater content too. please check it out.
man, this lil’ bit of stop sign tomfoolery is so good and so simple, i wish i had thought of it. some would say it’s too legit to quit.
looking for a neat home project? something practical yet mighty? then be sure to check out this do-it-yourself flamethrower project page. amazing step-by-step tutorial on all you could hope for in a home-made flamethrower. this guy is a one man a-team, or at least two and a half mr. t’s rolled into one. if you love gardening yet hate pulling weeds, then this is the project for you!
…’till halloween. the best day of the year. should be a week long event. my costume needs work. i ordered a samurai costume from buycostumes.com and it looks like crap. the image on the site & costume package is a bit different than the costume itself. go figure. if the title of the costume was ‘the crappiest samurai’ then i would be a satisfied customer. but, as it stands, i have a lot of DIY and hot-glueing ahead of me if i want it to look at all decent (like this rad pic). and also it’s just 3 more days until this halloween party in SF. the crappiest samurai is excited to attend.
dag-nabbit! i can’t get the wpTinyUrl plugin to work now. it handled everything fine at first. but since changing the permalink structure, it doesn’t work. oh well. more to learn …
yeah! it’s about time some swift justice was served up - american style! no, cheney hasn’t been arrested for treason. and no, no one from enron who helped fake the rolling california blackouts in 2000 has been brought in. and bush is still president. but - luckily - the streets are waay safer: tickle-me-elmo and mr. incredible have been put behind bars. wooo!
visited the oakland museum today and snapped some pics of my friend rhode’s beautiful day of the dead mural (photos posted on my flickr account). it’s part of a show/installation titled ‘CaliVera: Days of the Dead Altars Remixed’ and it runs October 12, 2005 through December 4, 2005. more info on the show is available at the oakland museum website.
here’s a great movie clip from the kong is king post-production diary showcasing the original king kong stop-motion puppet armature! introduced by peter jackson and bob burns (burns is owner of the original kong armature), the clip shows some behind the scene footage of the new kong movie and the classic armature’s tour of weta studios. towards the end of the clip, the original king kong armature is actually animated. soo cool!
man - it’s friday!!!! who wants to go squid fishing? it looks like soo much fun!!!! ssSPLATtt!!!
i love seeing things like this very powerful ad placed in a high school newspaper. the full text of the ad reads “You can’t be all that you can be if you’re dead. There are other ways to serve your country. There are other ways to get money for college. There are other ways to be all you can be. THINK ABOUT IT. Before you sign your life away.” the full ad layout can be seen here. the controversial ad was created and paid for by an anonymous sophmore at Warwick Valley High School in New York. the student who placed the ad is a member of the Bruderhof community, a Christian-based communal order in Sugar Loaf that preaches pacifism. more power to him! the full story is available via the times -herald record online (1st view is free. 2nd view requires registration - unless you delete their cookie) and also on michael moore’s website.
wow! lovely! check out solarviews.com for some beautiful images of Saturn’s moon Hyperion. good hi-res images available. this shot was taken by the Cassini Orbiter back in september 2005. so awesome! most intergalatic giant orbital loofah sponges are quite awesome.
so, some thing: i have no idea what a trackback is or does or how it works. or why it should do what it does or even if i should be using it. since i can’t wrap my mind around this feature, please feel free to drop me a line and explain it to me. slowly. or i’ll just google it, jees.
looking for a little rectum probing in your music video lineup? who isn’t! how about some testicle grabbing? bong humor? or just great direction, style, and motion graphics? then look no further! Loh Tsui Kweh Commune is a wacky lil’ rock group from Taiwan that i’ve never heard of before. so how do i know they are wacky? because i saw this super rad but crazy video packed with all the aforementioned treats - plus a catchy beat! that crappy old MTV would never have the guts to play something like this. that’s why you should watch it, keeping in mind that it’s not safe for work. and it’s a 40 meg download. dooo it!
do you know what it takes to sell real estate? brass balls. found this flicker photo gallery of photos/screen grabs from Glengarry Glen Ross. one of the most quoted movies i know. intense dialogue. yelling. seething salesmen. hate. good times. then i found this wacky site (made by the same dude) called Glengarry Mix - Always Be Closing. awesome! song auto-plays when you enter the page. but it’s pretty funny. the music is a bit too house-y for me. but the lyrics are gold. and the concept is quite rad too.
‘dick’ as in richard and ‘dick’ as in semi-flacid penis both apply. but in this case, i mean dick cheney. first i read that hot karl rove (the second kind of ‘dick’) may not be the focus of the CIA leak investigation nor even get indicted. then i read (though definitely a rumor) that colin powell may be providing delicious information on dick cheney and cheney’s direct involvement in leaking the name of a CIA operative. wow, as in ‘wow - that’s treason.’ then i read (not a rumor) a report from colin powell’s chief of staff Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson slamming the dick cheney and donald rumsfeld for hijacking the government and putting america in danger. wow again! you can read the transcript of Colonel Wilkerson’s speech here. i’d like to think that if once one person makes a stand for honesty, others will hopefully follow.
UPDATE: turns out this letter rumor is a fake (the letter is real, but the story/rumor is fake). there you go.
watch this fast moving nasa satellite video of hurricanes & tropical storms rolling through the atlantic. from june 2005 up until now. some storms seem to sputter & spin out randomly in the atlantic while others make a bee-line for the gulf. and you can just see tropical storm wilma form as the movie ends.

need a cool place to crash? try Hotel Fox in Copenhagen, Denmark. in a promotional effort for a new car design, Volkswagon has taken over the Parks Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. Volkswagon then brings in 21 designers, visionaries, artists, and illustrators and gives them free reign to create/paint/style a room (sometimes several rooms). coolness abound!
giantmonster loves all things sasquatch, yeti, skunk-ape, yowie, and bigfoot! so the elders were very pleased after getting a heads up from rhode on the very rad embroidery art of megan whitmarsh. very lovely stuff. i found out all of these great embroidered bigfoot pieces are sold. that is sad for you and me, but happy for megan whitmarsh. worth checking out.
here’s one. The Price of Cheap Beef: Disease, Deforestation, Slavery and Murder. it’s a good commentary written on beef imports from brazil to the UK. also available on the Common Dreams website.
