think you are tough? then answer this burning question: How many 5-year olds can you take on at once? one of the funniest message board threads i’ve seen in a long time. such a heated discussion. so really, how many? 10? 20? 30? keep in mind - there are rules. and 5-year olds can be tough.
there’s a great interview with Bjork on the guardian UK site. great read. make sure to check it out.
one of the best and most extensive archives i’ve seen in a while! visit Kiddie Records when you are able. amazing!!! so many great old illustrated album covers of the 1940s to the late 1950s scanned & archived. plus streaming audio of the albums and downloadable MP3s!!! each week a new album is added. from the brilliant audio-heads at Basic Hip Digital Oddio. there’s quite a lot to see there - including an archive of the work of Tony Schwartz and the Basic Hip Digital Gold store. RAD!!
found this on Treehugger.com: Eco-Cement! sustainable cement products made by TecEco. according to the folks at TecEco, the secret formula (and addition of magnesium oxide) means their eco-cement & bricks take less energy to produce. and, it reduces landfill by turning “virtually any solid waste†into concrete. but there’s more: for up to a year, eco-Cement absorbs carbon dioxide from the air. all around, eco-cement is easier to recycle, uses less energy, reduced CO2, and reduces landfill. i hope this process really takes off!
this is dumb - but that’s why i like it. Shatner VS Heston! short but funny. i think this battle has been raging in the back of everyones mind for some time now. it’s nice to see it someone taking the time to bring it up. who will win?
Charleton Heston: Said “damned” and “ape” in the same sentence (that’s one point for Heston).
William Shatner: Played a cop named “Hooker” (that’s one point for Shatner).
such good times.

really amazing photographs by Poul Beckmann of some even more amazing beetles and bugs! check out Living Jewels when you get a chance. the beetles are quite beautiful. you can buy books and prints as well. nice stuff. the beetle photos are Copyright 2004 Poul Beckmann.
this is quite beautiful: the bubble chamber. and lots of beautiful images created in the bubble chamber to see in the bubble chamber’s gallery of collision events. so cool! really wonderful images, rendered by a java applet using Processing.
The Bubble Chamber is a generative painting system of imaginary colliding particles built with Processing. A single super-massive collision produces a discrete universe of four particle types. Particles draw their positions over time resulting in the construction of oddly familiar patterns.

did i say satan? i meant to say Monsanto, global corporate agri-chem giant, maker of agent orange, and enemy to small local farmers around the world. well, it’s the same thing really. i saw this headline and felt very sad: Brazil legalizes genetically modified crops. ouch! also learned that Brazil is the second largest producer of soy in the world. this will effect all of the world. but if the gm-crops are used only for the production of alternative fuels then it may be okay. but again, it is monsanto.
