good sci-fi, bad reality

cell anyone read the book The Island of Dr. Moreau? or seen the movie. well, perhaps you don’t have to. why? because animal-human hybrids are on their way! no really - they are. from the article:

Scientists have begun blurring the line between human and animal by producing chimeras - a hybrid creature that’s part human, part animal.

the article from National Geographic News mentions such fun projects as fusing human cells with rabbit eggs (umm … why?) and making mice with human brains. hey - that’s the rats of NIMH! my worst fear is that this will lead to a world of furries. the horror … the horror.
